Training Management:

Sophistilearn is able to provide cost effective tailored training management services should a customer wish to outsource any part of training their carers. 

3 Day Induction Programme

Duration: 9.30am to 4.45pm Daily.
Venue: On or Off Site.
Course Content: Principles of Care, Understand the Organisation and the Role of the Worker, Communication, Health & Safety Awareness, Food Hygiene Awareness, Vulnerable Adults Awareness, First Aid Awareness, Medication Awareness, Infection Control Awareness, Personal Care Awareness, Continence Care Awareness, Moving and Handling, Develop as a Worker.
Outcomes: Upon completion the delegate will have evidence that they have understood the general elements of all Standards 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 of the Common Induction Standards.

Understanding Principles of Care

Duration: 1.5hrs.
Venue: On or Off Site.
Course Content: Values, Confidentiality, Person Centred Approaches, Risk Assessments.
Outcomes: Upon completion the delegate will have evidence that they understand the general elements of Standard 1 of the Common Induction Standards.

Communication

Duration: 1.5hrs.
Venue: On or Off Site.
Course Content: Encourage Communication, Use Communication Techniques, Principles of Good Record Keeping.
Outcomes: Upon completion the delegate will have evidence that they understand the general elements of Standard 4 of the Common Induction Standards.

Understand the Organisation and the Role of the Worker

Duration: 1hr 15mins.
Venue: On or Off Site.
Course Content: Understand your Organisation, Role as a Worker, Policies and Procedures, Worker Relationships.
Outcomes: Upon completion the delegate will have evidence that they understand the general elements of Standard 2 of the Common Induction Standards.

Developing as a Worker

Duration: 45mins.
Venue: On or Off Site.
Course Content: Support and Supervision, Knowledge and Skill Development.
Outcomes: Upon completion the delegate will have evidence that they understand the general elements of Standard 6 of the Common Induction Standards.

Health & Safety Awareness

Duration: 1.5hrs within 3 day Induction Programme, 2.5hrs Refresher.
Venue: On or Off Site.
Course Content: The Law, Common Hazards in the Home, Risk Assessment, Slips, Trips & Falls, COSHH, Equipment & Electrical Safety, RIDDOR, Personal Safety, PPE, Fire Awareness, Expectant Mothers, Water Safety, Gas Safety, Service User Rights, What you must NOT do.
Outcomes: Upon completion the delegate will have evidence that they understand the general elements of Standard 3.1 of the Common Induction Standards.

Food Hygiene Awareness

Duration: 1hr 45mins within 3 day Induction Programme, 2hrs Refresher.
Venue: On or Off Site.
Course Content: Role of a Carer, What is Food Hygiene, Causes of Food Poisoning, Types of Food Poisoning, Bacteria, High and Low Risk Foods, How to Prepare and Handle Food Safely, Correct Temperatures.
Outcomes: Upon completion the delegate will have evidence that they understand one of the general elements of Standard 3.1 of the Common Induction Standards.

Vulnerable Adults Awareness

Duration: 1.5hrs within 3 day Induction Programme, 1.5hrs Refresher.
Venue: On or Off Site.
Course Content: Abuse Awareness, Abuse Definitions, Understanding Abuse, Recognising Abuse, POVA & Whistle Blowing.
Outcomes: Upon completion the delegate will have evidence that they understand the general elements of Standard 5 of the Common Induction Standards.

First Aid Awareness

Duration: 1hr within 3 day Induction Programme, 1.5hrs Refresher.
Venue: On or Off Site.
Course Content: Basic Life Support, Unconsciousness, Heart Conditions, Wounds & Bleeding, Amputation, Burns, Cold and Heat Effects on the Body, Policies and Procedures.
Outcomes: Upon completion the delegate will have evidence that they have understood the general elements of Standard 3.4 of the Common Induction Standards. NB this course is not a substitute for an accredited first aid course.

Medication Awareness

Duration: 1hr 45mins within 3 Day Induction, 2hrs Refresher.
Venue: On or Off Site.
Course Content: Legislation, Categories of Medication, Roles, Responsibilities and Boundaries, Types of Medication and Routes, Side Effects, Safe Practice, Handling Sharps.
Outcomes: Upon completion the delegate will have evidence that they have understood the general elements of Standard 3.6 of the Common Induction Standards.

Infection Control Awareness

Duration: 1.5hrs 3 Day Induction Programme, 2hrs Refresher.
Venue: On or Off Site.
Course Content: Legislation, Your Role, The Main Routes of Infection, How to Prevent the Spread of Infection, Know how to Wash Hands Properly, What to do if a Service User is Ill.
Outcomes: Upon completion the delegate will have evidence that they have understood the general elements of Standard 3.5 of the Common Induction Standards.

Personal Care Awareness

Duration: 1hr 15mins 3 Day Induction, 1.5hrs Refresher.
Venue: On or Off Site.
Course Content: Definition of Personal Care,The Body, How to Bath, Shower, Bed Bath, Strip/Full Wash, Washing Teeth Correctly, Personal Grooming.
Outcomes: Upon completion the delegate will have evidence that they have understood how to undertake Personal Care duties appropriately.

Continence Care Awareness

Duration: 1hr 45mins 3 Day Induction, 2hrs Refresher.
Venue: On or Off Site.
Course Content: What is a Catheter, Why Service Users are Catheterised, Different types of Catheter, Drainage Bags, Outlet Taps & Support Systems, Policies and Procedures, Incontinence Aids and How to Use Them.
Outcomes: Upon completion the delegate will have evidence that they have understood the importance of Continence Care and how to work safely with Continence Aids.

Moving & Handling

Duration: 2hr 45mins Within 3 Day Induction, 2hr 45mins Refresher.
Venue: On or Off Site.
Course Content: Legislation, The Spine, Controversial Techniques, Equipment, Practical Assessment.
Outcomes: Upon completion the delegate will have evidence that they have understood the general elements of Standard 3.2 of the Common Induction Standards.
